CONTRACT TO LEASE

Contracts to lease are used to negotiate terms and conditions of lease agreement. 

These will include:

  • Lease terms
  • Rent payments/ Fees
  • Security deposit
  • Utilities
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Special clauses
  • Application to lease

Applications to lease are used to determine the quality of the tenant.

Applications may ask some of the following basic questions:

  • Current landlord
  • Employment history
  • Bank & credit references
  • Background check

Keep in mind that if you are leasing in a condominium, they have separate applications and they could take as mush as two weeks to approve.

  • Credit checks are paid by tenants
  • Protect your Social Security number, give out only if needed
  • Sign all applications

Contracts to lease are legally binding.  If not fully understood, seek the advice of an attorney prior to signing.
